Do you sometimes feel like your life is going nowhere? A lot of times I hear the pressure from where I want to be speak disappointment over where I am. But guess what, life is a process, a journey. And I cannot let where I dream of going derail me from the track I am on. Where you are today may not be your destination, but it is a part of the path that will get you to your purpose.
Don’t despise your process
I am talking to the one who is walking through the routine of life and wondering, “Am I even leaving a mark?” Hey, noble dreamer, don’t give up just because your life looks ordinary. The seeds you are planting today will be the fruit you reap in the harvest time. You don’t see the fruit yet, but that does not mean you never will.
You feel disappointed, and I understand that because I have been there. The truth is that we will always be in a cycle of hoping for things that have not happened yet. Healthy growth takes time. Do not give up just because you are not there yet because you will get there if you keep going.
Be excellent in the normal
Be faithful in the routine of daily life. Be consistent in doing the ordinary well! Do the insignificant stuff with significance – not because it is awesome, but because you are awesome! Do you get it? It is not about what you do, but how you do it that will make you into a world changer. God has a big dream for you & a hand designed purpose only you can unlock. If you don’t know your call, have faith that you will. And if you know your dream but are not living in it yet, have faith that you will! Give yourself room to grow.
Sometimes when you feel like you are dying you are actually being planted. And a seed is not planted to die, it is planted to live. When you feel like your life is at a standstill, understand that you are growing roots that will hold you up later.
Why is the dream still a dream?
Do you ever wonder why Jesus waited 30 years before he started His ministry? Can you imagine Jesus as a teenager seeing a crippled man and longing to heal him? I imagine Him thinking, “Aaah, I have authority from God to heal this man!” But it was not the time. Jesus did not lack the anointing, God had Him in a process. King David was anointed as a teenager to be king but he did not become king of Israel until around age 30.
What this means for you
Don’t despise yourself because you are in the process. Often we feel like a failure because we measure ourselves against our potential. But we cannot compare the planting time with the harvest time. Know where you are going but don’t let where you are going ridicule where you are today. The pressure that pushes you up is good, but don’t let any pressure push you down. Because you are called to rise to higher heights. Who you are becoming in the process is too valuable to skip over for the “good stuff.” You will reach your potential & your purpose, but don’t forget the value of today. Be faithful in your routine and love yourself in the process.
I’m cheering you on! Love, Laurel
